Speaking at an official ceremony celebrating Moscow City Day, Mr Putin said that Moscow is the symbol of the state’s greatness and its rich and glorious traditions.

The President also paid tribute to the invaluable contribution made by Muscovites to the victory over Nazism in World War II.

The President noted that Moscow is celebrating its city holiday in a spirit of optimism, improving city infrastructure, resolving transport and environmental problems and carrying out major social programmes.
