Opening the meeting, Mr Putin stressed that the murder of First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Andrei Kozlov was the reason why it had been called.

In order to combat economic crime more effectively, the President proposed amending the laws regulating banking institutions’ work with clients and forming an inter-ministerial working group whose task will be analysis of the situation in this area.

Taking part in the meeting were Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev, Chairman of the Central Bank Sergei Ignatyev and Director of the Federal Security Service’s Economic Security Service Alexander Bortnikov.
