At the press conference in the French city Compiegne following the Russian-French-German summit meeting, Vladimir Putin declared that Russia’s plans to develop transport infrastructure to ensure deliveries of energy resources are not directed against anyone. Rather, they are designed to help diversify energy deliveries to European consumers.

The President noted that Russia is not planning to reduce the volume of energy that passes through the countries that have traditionally transported Russian energy resources to Europe. At the same time the President confirmed Moscow’s position concerning the European Energy Charter: the old edition creates nonprofitable conditions for Russia with respect to concluding long-term transport agreements.

Vladimir Putin also stated Russia’s intention to return to the theme of investments in the energy sector in view of Europe’s interest in this topic. The Russian head of state also recalled the agreements concerning the market for nuclear materials in Europe. Russia considers that its interests are presently being discriminated against and that it is thereby losing essential financial resources.
