Konstantinos Karamanlis congratulated Vladimir Putin on the occasion of his birthday.

During the conversation both parties expressed their satisfaction with the implementation of decisions taken at the Athens summit (4 September 2006), a process that received an additional impulse during the Russian Prime Minister’s recent visit to Greece.

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbaev, also joined the discussion. They briefly discussed issues relating to multilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

The President of Russia received numerous birthday wishes from heads of state, of international organisations and public figures from various countries. Many leaders congratulated Vladimir Putin over the telephone.

During his conversation with the President of Uzbekistan Vladimir Putin expressed his satisfaction with the development of their bilateral relations and the constructive steps both parties have taken in their cooperation in trade, culture and education.

The subjects touched on in the telephone conversation with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliev, included cooperation in the energy sector.

The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rakhmonov, President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, and Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich also congratulated the President of Russia over the phone.
