Politicians, political scientists, businessmen, various scientific and cultural figures, and media representatives from both Russia and Germany participated in the session of the St Petersburg Dialogue. The speakers at the session included Russian co-chairman of the St Petersburg Dialogue Mikhail Gorbachev and German co-chairman Lothar de Maziere.
Following the session Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel met with members of the Russian-German youth parliament.
The Russian-German youth parliament is the first large-scale project implemented in accordance with the bilateral Agreement on Cooperation in Youth Exchanges, signed in Hamburg on 21 December 2004.
The slogan of the youth parliament’s first session is: ‘Russian and German youth: what motivates us, what can we change?’
