Opening the meeting, Mr Putin expressed his support for the candidacy of the city of Kazan to host the 2011 World University Games.
Russia’s representatives at the meeting included Presidential Aide Sergei Prikhodko, Director of the Federal Agency for Sport and Culture Vyacheslav Fetisov, President of the Russian Olympic Committee Leonid Tyagachev, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko, Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Minninkhanov and President of the Russian University Sports Union Oleg Matytsyn.
