The federal law ratifies the Agreement between the Russian Federation and Georgia on Organising the Transit of Military Cargo and Personnel via Georgian Territory, signed on March 31, 2006, in Sochi.

The agreement sets out international legal regulations for the transit via Georgian territory, using different types of transport, of military cargo and personnel in order to ensure the operation of the Russian military base located on the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

In accordance with sub-point G of Article 15 of the Federal Law on International Agreements of the Russian Federation, the present agreement had to go through the ratification procedure as it concerns issues regarding the Russian Federation’s defence capability.
