The visit of Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos to Russia marks a new stage in the development of bilateral relations

October 31, 2006

During the summit talks that were held in the Kremlin, heads of state Vladimir Putin and Jose Eduardo dos Santos confirmed their aspiration to develop Russian-Angolan relations on the principles of mutual respect, trust and sincere friendship.

Russia and Angola successfully cooperate in resolving actual international and regional problems and in ensuring security, law and order in the world.

Russian-Angolan business relations are developing actively. Following the negotiations several dozens of documents were signed in the presence of the Presidents of Russia and Angola. The documents referred to cooperation in law enforcement as well as in trade and economic spheres, including in the energy sector, the oil and gas industry, the diamond mining industry and other mining industries.

Vladimir Putin expressed his confidence that the Angolan head of state’s visit to Russia will help strengthen relations between the peoples of the two countries.
