November 5, 2006

The Agreement between the Governments of Russia and Chile on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes was signed in Santiago on November 19, 2004.

The Agreement lays the organisational and legal foundation for concluding bilateral contracts and agreements in various areas of joint activity in space, in particular, remote probing of the Earth, monitoring the Earth’s environment, satellite communications and navigation and manned space flights.

The second agreement, the Agreement between the Governments of Russia and India on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, aims to ensure the necessary conditions for developing effective and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in areas such as astrophysical research, the study of the planets, remote probing of the Earth from space, space medicine and biology and other areas.

The Agreement covers aspects of bilateral cooperation such as financing, customs regulations, export controls, protection and distribution of intellectual property rights, property protection and liability of the Parties.
