The heads of state of APEC member countries met without their delegations. Following their meeting they adopted a Statement on the Doha Development Agenda of the WTO in which they celebrate the completion of a major milestone towards Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation.
Later on, Vladimir Putin and other APEC heads of state met with members of the APEC Business Advisory Council.
The council is a consultative body which includes three business experts from each country. Russian members of the Council are Andrei Kostin, head of Vneshtorgbank; Oleg Deripaska, chairman of Basic Element; and Alexander Medvedev, board member of Gazprom and head of its exporting arm Gazexport.
