Journalists from the Kremlin's press pool left the summit of the CIS heads of state in protest against the actions of the Belarusian party

November 28, 2006, Minsk

The Belarusian party refused to allow the correspondent from Moskovskii komsomolets and photographers from Moskovskii komsomolets and Kommersant to cover the session of the Council of CIS heads of state.

Russian journalists consider the actions of the Belarusian party unreasonable, especially since this event has been organised by an international organisation.

They informed representatives of the press service of the President of Russia of their decision. After additional attempts to resolve the problem, the press service of the Russian President took note of the decision made by journalists in the Kremlin’s press pool.

They left the National Library where the summit is taking place during the enlarged session of the Council of CIS heads of state.

The journalists from the Kremlin’s press pool suggested that their colleagues in Russian state media continue to cover the work done at the summit of CIS heads of state because they realize that the Russian public must be informed of what takes place at the summit.
