President Vladimir Putin congratulated Nastya and Masha Tolmacheva on their victory in the children's Eurovision competition

Mr Putin also congratulated the young winners’ teachers and parents.

The Eurovision 2006 international children’s competition took place in Bucharest on December 2. Young performers aged between 9 and 14 from 15 European countries took part.

Nine-year-old twin sisters Masha and Nastya Tolmacheva from the Russian city of Kursk won the competition, getting the highest number of votes with their performance of a song called ‘Spring Jazz’.
