Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the development of the aviation industry

December 19, 2006, The Kremlin, Moscow

The pressing tasks that the President recalled at the meeting on the development of the aviation industry include technological modernisation and large-scale personnel training to allow employees to better work with modern technology.

The second major task involves protecting domestic producers of aviation technology by using various contemporary methods and means that are accepted in the world economy.

The development of cooperation in this sector also has a key value. This includes cooperation between Russian aviation enterprises, aircraft producers and their parts suppliers, as well as strengthening the ties between Russian companies and their foreign partners.

Priority tasks also include increasing aviation security and ensuring further improvements of systems designed to ensure flight security.

Vladimir Putin emphasized that recently a number of measures to improve the situation in the aviation industry have been taken, in particular the creation of the United Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation. The President advocated using all available opportunities to improve the domestic aviation industry.
