Mr Voronin informed Mr Medvedev about the situation in the Moldovan capital after protests against the results of recent elections in the country turned to riots.
Mr Medvedev said he hoped that the situation would be settled as soon as possible, law and order restored, and the electoral laws and constitutional provisions observed.
