February 16, 2007, Novo-Ogaryovo

Mr Cherkesov said that more than 600 organised crime groups smuggling heroin, mostly from the Central Asia, had been neutralised last year.

Mr Cherkesov also said his service seized large deliveries of drugs produced in Western Europe and the Baltic states. The Federal Drugs Control Service seized more than 1.4 billion average one-off doses of synthetic drugs in 2006.
