Mr Putin opened the Council’s meeting.
Two main items were on the agenda: priority measures for improving the demographic situation in Russia; and the main results obtained by the agriculture sector development priority national project, which will serve as a basis for drafting a medium-term state programme for agriculture development and creating the conditions for improving living standards in the rural areas in general.
The meeting heard reports on these two subjects by First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev.
