During his working visit to Italy Vladimir Putin met with President of the Republic of Italy Giorgio Napolitano and Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi

During the negotiations with the Italian President, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Presidential Aide Sergei Prikhodko, and Russian Ambassador to Italy Aleksei Meshkov participated from the Russian side.

Vladimir Putin then met with Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi in the Chigi Palace.

In their discussion, Vladimir Putin and Romano Prodi concentrated on the most topical issues in today’s international agenda. They include Russia’s relations with the EU and NATO, the activities of the OSCE and the UN, the situation in the Middle East, in Iraq, and in Afghanistan, the situation concerning the Iranian nuclear programme, and Kosovo.
