Russian President Vladimir Putin, Greek Prime Minister Konstantinos Karamanlis and Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev discussed the realisation of the Burgas — Alexandroupolis project

Vladimir Putin, Konstantinos Karamanlis and Sergei Stanishev concentrated on the pipeline project during their working dinner that lasted for more than an hour and a half. They devoted special attention to the issue of respecting environmental standards.

In addition, the meeting’s participants discussed the EU’s new initiative to make additional efforts to reduce the amount of harmful emissions released into the atmosphere and to increase the share of renewable energy in energy production. In connection with this, they discussed implementing the Kyoto Protocol.

Among a number of international topics the heads of state focussed on the Kosovo problem.
