The two leaders discussed bilateral relations.

Alexander Kwasniewski said he was committed to improving the climate of bilateral relations in the interests of both nations.

Vladimir Putin advocated the development of Russian-Polish cooperation in all spheres.

Speaking about the planned visit by the Polish president’s wife, Jolanta, to the Smolensk Region on April 13, 2000, when she would visit the Katyn memorial to the victims of Stalinist purges, Mr Putin said new graves had been found during reconstruction work there.

Mr Kwasniewski thanked the Russian leader for that information.
