Greeting the conference delegates, Vladimir Putin emphasised the importance of the issues on its agenda for every country because the fight against terrorism now transcends national borders. Mr Putin said that international terrorism has a wide-ranging network of information, financial and ideological support. He stressed that the effectiveness of CIS countries’ efforts in combating international terrorism is pivotal for the stability within the CIS and building sound international relations.

The acting president expressed hope that the current conference would adopt final decisions and prepare documents for the upcoming session of the Council of CIS Heads of State.
