President Vladimir Putin met with the heads of British Petroleum at his Moscow Region residence

March 23, 2007, Novo-Ogaryovo

The meeting discussed BP’s activities in Russia and the prospects for future cooperation.

Mr Putin noted that the company is developing well in Russia, with growing reserves, production volumes and profits.

The company’s chief executive officer, Lord John Browne, informed the President about the company’s expansion plans and its cooperation with leading Russian energy producers, which he assessed very highly.

BP’s chief executive for exploration and production, Tony Hayward, who is set to take over from Lord Browne as CEO of the company this summer, said he was confident that ties between BP and Russian energy companies would continue to strengthen.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of BP-TNK Mikhail Fridman also took part in the meeting.
