The meeting examined high-priority measures to ensure the normal performance of the economy and social sphere of the Chechen Republic in 2000.

Opening the session, Mr Putin stressed that Russia had no other goal in Chechnya but to eliminate bandits and restore its socio-economic sphere.

Mr Putin stressed that funds allocated for Chechnya’s economic recovery must be disbursed under control and in a transparent manner.
