The office of prosecutor general is a reliable basis of the state. It protects law and order, and promotes social stability, said Mr Putin as he presented government awards to a number of employees.
The rank of a prosecutor is high and demanding. Prosecution officers need not only high professionalism but also personal courage and strength, the prime minister stressed.
The prosecution and investigation have to be outside politics as they staunchly protect citizens’ rights and freedoms, lead an uncompromising fight against crime and corruption, and promote national unity.
The prime minister and acting president also forwarded greetings to all Russian prosecution officers. The message reads in particular:
”In the old days, Russian prosecutor’s offices were known as “the eyes of the state.” They were established in turbulent reform years during the reign of Peter the Great. This institution has remained one of the pillars of the Russian state for three centuries, as it protects individuals and the community from crime and injustice. Prosecution bodies may have served different causes over the course of history, but their true professionals have always been known for dedicated service to the law and for corporate honour.
”Today, as Russia enters a new century in its development, the role and the rank of prosecution officer are extremely demanding. Whatever hardships they might encounter, prosecutors and investigators protect citizens’ rights and freedoms, lead an uncompromising fight against crime and corruption, and promote national unity.“
