Opening the meeting, Vladimir Putin said the Russian leadership attached great importance to relations with Ukraine.
Mr Putin said that the governments and departments of the two countries had already signed about 250 agreements, and expressed hope for continued constructive and fruitful cooperation.
He pointed out that the meeting preceded a CIS foreign minister conference and summit, and suggested discussing preparations for these representative international forums.
