The message said, in part:

“Russia highly values its friendly relations with Finland. In a spirit of openness and mutual understanding, we successfully resolve problems arising in the course of our cooperation and synchronise our approaches to key international issues.

“I am looking forward to working closely with you on strengthening Russian-Finnish good-neighbourly ties, promoting security and welfare in northern Europe, and establishing partner relations between all European states. I hope that the good tradition of stable high-level dialogue will continue.”
