Acting President Vladimir Putin sent a message to Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong

The message said, in part:

“It is a great pleasure for me to address you at this time, when we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing Russian-Vietnamese diplomatic relations. The 50-year history of friendly ties and cooperation allows us to speak about positive experience, which will be of great use to us at this stage of our relationship”.

The message also said that Russia considers Vietnam an important partner in the Asia-Pacific Region. Russia and Vietnam have common interests in the region and share views on the main issues of today’s world order: multipolarity, equality of rights and the individual choice of development direction. The message emphasized the importance of political dialogue, which will help to consolidate the two countries’ positions in the international arena.

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov delivered the acting president’s message to Tran Duc Luong during his official visit to Hanoi.
