Mr Putin said that the Russian Armed Forces were the most important guarantor of peace and tranquillity in Russia, including in the North Caucasus. The acting Supreme Commander-in-Chief praised the efforts of military personnel to ensure the country’s stability and security, restore law and order in the Chechen Republic and defend the Russian Federation’s territorial integrity.
Defence Minister Igor Sergeyev and top Russian military commanders also attended the official function.
