Among the subjects discussed at the talks was cooperation in the energy, infrastructure, environmental and humanitarian fields, as well as international issues.

Developing energy sector cooperation, in particular the construction of the Northern Stream gas pipeline, was one of the main subjects on the agenda.

Promising bilateral projects and cooperation in energy machine-building, shipbuilding, and optical electronics were examined.

Dmitry Medvedev and President of Finland Tarja Halonen also discussed joint efforts to overcome the effects of the global economic and financial crisis.

Mr Medvedev and Ms Halonen gave a press conference following the talks.
