President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the Government Cabinet

Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov and Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref reported on national macroeconomic development indicators for 2006 and the first quarter of 2007, and on adjustments to the three-year budget programme. Prospects for increasing investment in the Russian economy were also discussed.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov informed the meeting on his visits to Armenia and Turkmenistan and the talks he held with the presidents and foreign ministers of these two countries.

First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov reported on preparations for a meeting of the Military-Industrial Commission to examine development prospects for aviation arms and defence technology. Mr Ivanov also informed the meeting about the upcoming launch of the new strategic nuclear submarine, Yury Dolguruky, and plans to commission the first floating nuclear power plant in 2010.
