The message said, in part:

“I am convinced that expanded ties between Russia and the Vatican are in the interests of both countries and will make it possible to work together to solve problems facing all of humankind. As before, Russia will continue to strive to expand its political dialogue with the Vatican.

“I hope to discuss the future of bilateral ties and interaction between Russia and the Vatican on the international stage during my forthcoming visit to Rome.”
