The Russian President once again thanked President Jiang for the warm welcome given to him during his recent visit to China.

Mr Jiang told Mr Putin that the latter’s recent visit to China, which the Chinese believed was a success, would promote Russian-Chinese partnership and strategic cooperation in the new century.

The Russian and Chinese leaders exchanged views on the further development of bilateral relations, international issues and regional problems of mutual interest. Mr Putin briefed Mr Jiang on his visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The Chinese President congratulated his Russian counterpart on his successful visit.

The two leaders discussed the agenda for their upcoming meetings during the Millennium Summit in New York and the APEC forum in Brunei.
