The decree states that the 6th Airborne Company of the 104th Airborne Guards Regiment, 76th Airborne Division, engaged a superior terrorist force. The paratroops did not retreat and valiantly fulfilled their duty to bar the enemy’s way at the cost of their own lives.

The President instructed the Defence Ministry to join efforts with the Pskov regional administration to erect a monument to the heroic soldiers in Pskov; together with the Moscow municipal administration, to place a commemorative plaque in front of the Central Russian Armed Forces Museum in memory of servicemen who died while defending Russia’s interests in peacetime; and establish a Hall of Martial Glory at the Central Russian Armed Forces Museum, with an exposition devoted to armed defence of Russian interests in peacetime.
