After a face-to-face discussion, Mr Putin and Mr Clinton had an informal dinner.
The subjects discussed included arms control and the situations in the Balkans and the North Caucasus.
Mr Putin also gave Mr Clinton a small guided tour of the Kremlin’s Senate Palace.
The evening ended with a jazz concert featuring the orchestra directed by Oleg Lundstrem, the Igor Butman quartet, and the children’s song and dance group conducted by Pyotr Petrukhin.
