The Acting President made a tour of one of the oil-production facilities at the West Surgutskoye field developed by Surgutneftegaz. After that Mr Putin visited Gazprom’s condensate stabilisation works to look at the progress of the facility’s third stage construction and to talk to the construction workers.

Answering the workers’ questions about higher wages and pensions, Mr Putin said the Government planned to continue its policy of gradually raising people’s incomes. He also said he supported the decision to preserve wage increments for workers in the Far North.

After that, the Acting President visited an operating drilling tower and the exhibition “Oil-Production Equipment”.

Before his tour of Surgut production facilities Mr Putin looked from his helicopter at two local power plants, the city of Surgut and a bridge construction on the Ob River.
