The two leaders discussed a wide range of current bilateral and regional issues. They agreed to discuss matters pertaining to the Caspian status at a summit of the Caspian countries’ heads of state. Mr Niyazov offered his country for its venue. The presidents expressed their assurance that the upcoming summit would determine approaches to settling a wide range of Caspian problems with due consideration for the interests of all littoral countries. The Caspian is to become a sea of peace and accord, the presidents stressed.
President Putin accepted Mr Niyazov’s invitation for a visit to Turkmenistan.
