Mr Putin’s message said Russia highly valued Mr Clinton’s contribution to expanded bilateral cooperation.

“I firmly believe that active Russian-US dialogue, including our talks in Moscow and Okinawa, serve to expand multi-faceted Russian-US cooperation and strengthen global security and stability. I have no doubt that our upcoming talks during the UN Millennium Summit in New York early this September will also lead to progress in this direction,” the message said.
