Islam Karimov congratulated Vladimir Putin on his success in the presidential election stressing that his convincing victory was very important not only for the Russian Federation but for the international community. The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress in implementing the agreements achieved during Mr Putin’s visit to Tashkent late last year and the effective follow-up contacts at various levels.

Both sides stressed that the relations of mutual trust and close cooperation would remain a reliable basis of Russian-Uzbek interaction.
