Acting President and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin presented plaques and diplomas to winners of the 1999 State Prize in science and technology

The Acting President said that science should become the state’s priority. Russia has many great scientists who are dedicated to their work. Mr Putin emphasised that the work of scientists would become the foundation for an economic miracle.

The head of state expressed certainty that the collaborative work of the Government and science would make it possible to find the right solutions to long-term problems facing society and the state.

About 20 teams received diplomas and awards for their wok in mathematics, physics, biology and human sciences.
