Mr Putin and Mr Shevardnadze discussed the Abkhazian peace settlement, the Russian military bases in Georgia, and Georgian debts to Russia. Mr Shevardnadze once again invited Mr Putin to visit Tbilisi.
President Putin also met with Moldovan President Petru Lucinschi and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko at the Mukhalatka residence.
