Acting President Vladimir Putin met with Nikolai Koshman, deputy prime minister and Russian government's plenipotentiary envoy in Chechnya

They discussed the current situation in the North Caucasus and the results of the campaign for the election of Russian President held in the Chechen Republic.

Nikolai Koshman pointed out that terrorists had failed to carry out their threats, and election in Chechnya was held. The voter turnout was 74%, with 54% of the votes given to Vladimir Putin. OSCE representatives made no critical remarks on the vote.
