President Vladimir Putin chaired a meeting with his plenipotentiary envoys to the federal districts

September 28, 2000, The Kremlin, Moscow

The meeting discussed issues related to improving the activities of plenipotentiary envoys and regional governments, and harmonising regional legislation with the Constitution of the Russian Federation and federal laws.

Mr Putin instructed the plenipotentiary envoys to provide assistance to regional election commissions and people in general in getting reliable information during the election campaign in the 34 Russian regions. “Nobody should be allowed to speculate on relations with the President, his Executive Office or the plenipotentiary envoys,” the head of state said.

The President supported a proposal to hold regular bilateral meetings with each of his plenipotentiary envoys.
