At the Akasaka Palace, the Russian President met with former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone, and the leader of the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan, Yukio Hatoyama.

A meeting took place with the representatives of the Association of Japanese MPs “For Friendship with Russia” headed by its chairman, former Foreign and Finance Minister Hiroshi Mitsuzuka.

The meetings were also attended by other former Foreign Ministers of Japan: Taro Nakayama, Tsutomu Hata and Masahiko Komura.
