Vladimir Putin held talks with Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev

The leaders discussed economic cooperation between Russia and Bulgaria. The volume of trade between the two countries grew by 38 percent in 2006 and came to exceed four billion USD.

The heads of state also noted the positive dynamic in the implementation of strategic projects, in particular with respect to Gazprom’s transporting gas through Bulgaria, the construction of a nuclear power plant, and the Burgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline.

Vladimir Putin and Sergei Stanishev exchanged good wishes on the occasion of the forthcoming May 9th holiday.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister invited the President of Russia to the 2008 celebrations commemorating the 130th anniversary of Bulgaria’s liberation from Ottoman rule.
