President Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the situation in Yugoslavia and made a statement

Following his return from a state visit to India, President Vladimir Putin held a meeting to discuss the situation in Yugoslavia at Sheremetyevo-1 Airport in Moscow. Taking part in the meeting were Speaker of the State Duma Gennady Seleznyov, Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Alexander Voloshin, Secretary of the Security Council Sergei Ivanov, Defence Minister Igor Sergeyev and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Prikhodko.

Mr Putin said that he has been in contact with the authorities and with opposition representatives in Belgrade practically the whole time throughout the crisis. He also said that Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov has spoken on a number of occasions with leading Yugoslav politicians.

The President made a statement regarding the situation in Yugoslavia.
