Mr Barak explained Israel’s view of the crisis in Israeli-Palestinian relations. He spoke out in favour of strengthening Russia’s role in the region to promote a Middle East settlement.

Mr Putin reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to continue working together with both sides involved in the conflict, interested parties in the region, the United States and European countries to settle the crisis and to resume the Middle East peace process.

The conversation was initiated by Israel.
