The meeting started with a moment of silence for those who died in the crash of a military plane in Adzharia.
Mr Putin said that Secretary of the Security Council Sergei Ivanov had gone to Georgia to the site of the tragedy. The President emphasised that the Government had received instructions on providing help to the relatives of those who died in the tragedy.
The issue of salvaging the bodies of crew members of the Kursk nuclear submarine and the submarine itself from the bottom of the Barents Sea was discussed at the meeting. Notwithstanding the difficulties, the work would continue, the promises made to the relatives would be kept and the Government would do everything possible to pay its last respects to the sailor-heroes, the President stressed.
In addition, issues connected with Russian-Ukrainian relations and the recent negotiations in Sochi between Mr Putin and Mr Kuchma were discussed at the meeting.
