Teams from three Russian universities took part in the contest held in Sweden this April, winning three of the event’s four gold medals.
The St Petersburg State University of Information Technology, Mechanics and Optics team became absolute champion for the second year in a row.
The teams of St Petersburg State University and Saratov State University took the gold medals for third and fourth place.
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) has been taking place since 1977, under the auspices of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). In 1991, it was given world championship status. Different countries take turns to host the ACM-ICPC World Finals.
One hundred teams from around the world competed in this year’s finals. To reach this stage, the teams had to win regional contests, in which over 7,000 teams from 88 countries took part.
