The message was addressed to the heads of state and government of Latin American countries, Spain and Portugal who were in Panama discussing youth problems and international issues.
In his message, the Russian President underlined the need to make globalisation socially oriented and to set it the task of overcoming social inequality and poverty, and promoting development and social stability.
The Russian head of state expressed his certainty that those goals could be achieved only through broad international cooperation and by taking into account the interests of all nations.
As for the main theme of the forum, Mr Putin expressed hope for successful cooperation in protecting children and the young at a special session of the United Nations General Assembly on the matter in 2001.
The message underlined Russia’s interest in developing cooperation with the Ibero-American countries.
