September 22, 2001

Vladimir Putin and George W. Bush discussed the global situation after the September 11 terrorist attacks. They also discussed the issues to come on the agenda of their eye-to-eye meeting in Shanghai, late in October. Mr Bush thanked Mr Putin for his support of the international anti-terrorist cause.

The conversation lasted about one hour. It was their third conversation after the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
