During their frank and detailed conversation, they discussed various aspects of the situation in the Middle East and possible steps that could help resolve the Palestinian-Israeli crisis. Mr Arafat praised the Russian leadership’s efforts in the current complex situation and expressed hope that Russia would continue its active policy aimed at stabilising the situation in the region.
Both sides underlined the importance of effective help from the international community in promoting the Middle East peace process.
